Zine reflection and evaluation

We were supposed to create a new zine the idea and the way you create it is all our imagination. I struggled on this task because I couldn’t think of an idea for a long time so I had really little time left to complete the task. I preferred to use red paint in general because that colors came to my mind when I thought beauty standards and the pain that women get to change them selves. I wanted to make a dramatic cover that tells the story with the cover so I put a lip that is getting a botox surgery. I liked the first page, I made a barbie to show how little children are imposed to all these toys that they want to be when they grow up with their unrealistic body shape, blonde hair, blue eyes with perfectly designed face. When a little girl grows up with these they get the wrong understanding and if they get fat they want to change there selves because they don’t think they are beautiful enough.While making this page I had some struggles because the marker that I used on the other side of the paper left a mark so I had to rewrite everything. On the next page I wrote all types of surgeries that they get while changing their selves. The pink cartoon on the background was actually a cartoon that I covered those both pages with then I didn't like the way it looked so I ripped it of and then I liked it better. Next page I cut some pictures of examples about the ways they change their selves and on the right side there is the word that I created Induty which comes from inner beauty. Finally in the last page I made a storyboard about a girl who grows up with Disney shows and Barbie dolls and then when she grows up starts to change her face with putting a bunch of make up on. Furthermore, some stranger tells her to have a surgery and she looks ugly the way she looks. In the next page she does get offended by her friend so the changes her appearance and then when she goes back to school people start to talk about her back with the was she looks fake and ugly. My goal was to tell your inner beauty is the most important thing and nothing else matters. When finished this page I wasn’t that satisfied with my drawing but I didn’t have much time left so I need to make everything really fast. I liked the content that I used and could have made it better if I had more time.
